Connected health
If your phone or watch already counts your steps and workouts, VitaLinks can bring them in without you logging anything by hand.
1. What it is and what it brings
Your phone has a central place where health apps and watches store their data: Health Connect on Android and Apple Health on iPhone. VitaLinks connects to that place, so it works with any watch or app that writes there.
With your permission, VitaLinks reads:
- Steps
- Heart rate and oxygen saturation
- Blood pressure
- Workouts
- Weight and sleep
Read only. VitaLinks reads this data and never writes to Health Connect or Apple Health. This feature is in the mobile app; it isn’t available in the browser.
2. Connect it
- In the mobile app, open Settings.
- Scroll down to Health Connect (on iPhone it’s called Apple Health).
- Tap Connect Health Connect or Connect Apple Health.
- The system will show you the list of data. Turn on what you want to share and confirm.
The first time, VitaLinks brings in the last 30 days, so your charts don’t start empty.
On Android: if you see Install Health Connect, your phone doesn’t have that Google app yet. Tap it, install it from Google Play and come back to Settings.
3. Where the data shows up
- Steps: at the top of the Exercise tab, and in a chart in Progress.
- Workouts: in the day’s list in Exercise, with a label showing where they came from.
- Heart rate and oxygen saturation: in charts in Progress.
- Blood pressure, weight and sleep: in Progress, next to what you log yourself, marked as synced.
Your entries are never overwritten. Imported data is stored separately. If you log a weight or a blood pressure reading by hand, VitaLinks never replaces it with the imported one.
4. Keep it up to date
VitaLinks imports new data every time you open the app. There’s nothing you need to do.
- To force it: in Settings, tap Import now. You’ll see the time of the last import right there.
- To review what you share: tap View granted permissions.
- If you see Grant additional access: there’s some data VitaLinks can read that you haven’t allowed yet. Tap it if you want to add it.
5. Change or remove permissions
Permissions are managed from the system, not from VitaLinks, and you can remove them whenever you like.
- On Android: open the Health Connect app, find VitaLinks among the apps with access and change what you want.
- On iPhone: open Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → VitaLinks.
If you remove a permission, VitaLinks stops importing that data. What was already imported stays in your history.
Frequently asked questions
I connected and my steps aren’t showing
Check that your watch or band’s app (Fitbit, Samsung Health, Garmin…) is sharing its data with Health Connect or Apple Health; that’s turned on in that app’s settings. Then tap Import now in Settings.
Does it work with my watch?
If your watch or its app stores data in Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iPhone), yes. VitaLinks doesn’t connect to the watch directly.
Can I use it in the browser?
No. The connection to your phone’s health data only exists in the app. What’s been imported does show in the browser if you sign in with the same account.
What happens to that data if I delete my account?
It’s deleted along with everything else. Deleting your account includes the data imported from Health Connect or Apple Health.
